the joy of text

we’re texting less
and i confess
that’s worrying to me
even though
i willed it so
i’m filled with misery.

is it you i miss?
or the mobile bliss
of giving and receiving
the joyous elation
of each notification
now my heart is grieving.

we’re texting less
and i’m a mess
what a tedious way to be
so i'll mourn the clever
but not forever –
there are plenty of thumbs in the sea.
