on this, the year's most romantic day,
wouldn't you know my luck
was i hit by a cupid? no effing way
i was struck by the back of a truck.

that's right, a truck backed into me
i fell head over heels in slush
then yelled out a clever obscenity
that would make any Hallmark fan blush.

they say love is blind, now i know it
motor revved, brakes screeched, "be mine"
it was crushing me, & literally wanted to show it
what a moving valentine.

guess i'll add it to my list of symbolics
(though i was certain i'd reached my quota)
on this day meant for lovers frolics
--my only pick up was a toyota.
